Heck of a necro-post, but... hey, it's worth it.

Looks good and I look forward to seeing it finished and on a body Hope you have someone to help you put the haramaki do on... Im not sure I like the way you put the curved side underarm pieces - perhaps use soem lacing isntead
Not having to paint the plastic will be good as well, means you wont ever get the paint scratching off and revealing the secret smurf skin underneath!

Kissmaker is one of our members in Thailand. His English is pretty good, but just be aware.
He recently started making his own maille, and then went to this project out of a barrel that he had. I'm really impressed with the way the lacing came out. He was going for a domaru, I think, but it ended up being something of a haramaki, so I'll be working with him to figure out how to close it and probably throw a coward's plate, as well as some kusazuri around it. Oh, and a shoulder-strap arrangement.
Thoughts and ideas are welcome. I think that for a first project this is pretty awesome!

I think that for a first project this is pretty awesome! Ditto. Someone has *definitely* been paying attention to the lines of the armour. You have a keeper there.

Actually, it's very easy.
A dô-maru opens on the right side of the body, and is hinged (or something) on the left. A haramaki opens up the back.

On behalf of Kissmaker, let me share what he has done so far: And here are links to it in action, being worn by "Dread" Faldimore at practice this past weekend here in Golden Playne (Bangkok, Thailand): Testing the armor--first combat!3-on-32-on-1Dread ProwessDread was named the "Champion" of our practice that day, as everyone was very impressed with his fighting, especially with how far he has come in only a few practices (Nobody here has been fighting for much more than a year~18 months, besides myself--and that was spotty at best for the past decade). PS: I'm scandalously not in Japanese armor. Mainly because of my new helmet... I like my new helmet, I don't care if it isn't Japanese. I can have multiple armors, right?
