Yipee! Looking forward to seeing folks there.
I won't be getting to site until Wednesday and it looks like the infamous Japanese enclave may just be Yagyu-dono, his lady and myself.
Should we start thinking about what night to have a gathering? Thursday evening, maybe?

Thursday is always good because the fighting that day is light and most people are on site by then.

That was kind of my thought as well. Friday and Saturday evenings are rather target rich, socially.....

Should we start thinking about what night to have a gathering? Thursday evening, maybe? My wife, step-son and I are planning on attending this year and would love to camp with fellow Nihonjin. That is, if those in attendance don't mind looking at two thoroughly modern tent sites. Katayama

If you don't mind camping with a victim of Multiple Persona Disorder.....
Yagyu-dono has posted pre-reg info further up this thread.

I know that I would be more then happy to have you in our little encampment. We will hopefully have more then enough decorations that we can spruce up your camping space.

Ok, i will be at estrella. I am gonna prereg for the Campsite noted here so ya get more space. Dunno if i will actually camp or go home each night. But definately wanna hang there if i do decide to go home. Will also have a friend or 2 in tow who are interested in the SCA and wanna check out Estrella. If i camp they will camp with me. Let me know if there is any sort of problem with this. Also i will only have modern camping gear if i do end up camping.

Don't worry if your gear is modern, this is an SCA event and most people don't have period stuff. I am trying to bring enough that we can hide what we can behind walls and stuff, so we can make it look as good as possible. ;D

Some people have asked me when Pre-registration ends and I have just looked it up. Unlike last year you have until January 31st to pre-register. Here is the link www.estrellawar.org/Default.aspx?tabid=405 Can't wait to see everyone there!

Okay, I am starting to put things together for the encampment and I just want to make sure that I have everyone that is planning on camping with us at the moment. I know posts can some times be buried in the forum so I want to make sure that I have contacted everyone. Camping we have... Myself and my wife with 2 tents and a shade Saionji and her one tent Katayama his wife and step son with 2 tents Tatsuyama with one tent and a few friends who are day tripping. That gives us a total of 7 people in the camp and I reserved us space for 10 just in case so we are good encase someone ends up coming last minute. So I have a couple of questions for those who are camping... 1) Do we want to do a camp kitchen? With most everyone coming in from out of town I have no problem purchasing food and being re-payed when everyone gets there, but with fighting I would have a hard time cooking as well (And no one wants my wife cooking ) so if we do a camp kitchen either one person would have to volunteer or we all would have to share in the duties. 2) Are we planning on doing a get together on Thursday? If we do we could give it a New Years theme like Li and I did last year only this time do it in more Japanese style. And of course much sake will still be had. 3) What days are everyone planning on being there? And so everyone knows what I am planning on bringing for camp use at the bear minimum... I have a 2 burner camp stove (small but works REALLY well) A small grill, but can be persuaded to load up the big Bar-B-Que if we think it will be needed. 12'x12' shade canopy 2 fire pits, but I think we will only need one A tent that we can use as a pantry so you can have more room in your tents if you bring snacks. 2 reasonable size coolers and I may pick up a third before the event. If there is something essential that you think the camp needs let me know and I will see if I can dig it up. Even if we all fend for ourselves for food, I have no problems with others using the stove and grill so you don't have to pack those. I am also planning on trying to put together a gate and some canvas walls for at least the front of the encampment. If you have a flag or any type of decoration that you would like to have up front, just let me know and I will try and design a place for it. Thanks! And if you can't tell I am starting to get excited for the war. Yagyu

I can go either way on this. However, organizing regular meals can be like herding cats. Lunch can be particularly problematic with people scattered to the four corners. I certainly hope so. I still have a couple leftover bottles from GWW that need to go away and I have access to good Japanese markets here for treats. I can also furnish a 2 burner propane stove with stand. (I also have a good stock of unused bottled propane that I can contribute. I also have dishpans and a table that can be used for kitchen prep and cleanup. I like the idea of a pantry or kitchen area where coolers, stoves, trash/recycling buckets can live. And I have a Radio Flyer Wagon that I would be willing to bring for things like garbage runs and stuff if you think we need it. Buckets with covers or plastic jerry cans for water would be useful. IIRC there are spigots onsite. Let me give this a bit more of a think and I'll see what else my brain comes up with. S.

I'm thinking of putting up a 12'x12' armour display and general purpose shelter even if I camp elsewhere.

I am game for however the rest wanna do things. we can do some sort of light communal kithcen that might allow for a couple nights of feasting together, yet also allow for those who will dine elsewhere some nights. Also we can just do sammiches for lunches since many will be out n about during this time as well. I know myself and my friend who will be attending will sample some treats at the food court for our lunches most days, but not all days.
All i have is 1 folding table (Plastic top from wal mart) and 1 camp (Modern) chair. I will pick up another chair, tent etc for myself and friend attending. Just let me know if anything else is needed and i will do what i can to help out with things.
I plan on being there from the opening of the gates to sunday evening to help with setup and teardown.
ALSO....my house is not even 30 minutes away if anyone needs or wants to head over on any day for a relaxed shower, i got 2 showers at home and would happily take folks that way so they dont have to wait in a long line or w/e. just a thought. Also good if the for some reason we get freakish weather, we can just all go there tilll it blows over. =)
My main reason for joining in on this encampment is to spend this quality time with you folks here. Some of you i have met and some i have not. I hope to expand on the meet n greets and get to know everyone better during our time at estrella.
