Well, its only a couple of weeks till Estrella and I still haven't received a map of our camping area.
*sigh*
So I am just going to try and wing a camp lay out for us because I have a fairly good idea of the area that we are being given.
If you haven't already done so, if you could please throw me a message and let me know what size tent you are bringing.
Also, just like last year, I am planning on doing a Mongolian style stir fry for everyone on Thursday night before we have our New Years celebration.
And one last thing, it turns out I am going to have the chance to be a father again. My wife and I just found out that she is pregnant! Anyway, just wanted to share that.
;D

I'll put up some onigiri for the snack cooler - I'll try not to make QUITE so much this time. I can make "chicken noodle" soup again. Saturday night work for people? Omedetou gozaimasu, tomodachi! That's wonderful news.

Soooo.....
I am one of 3 Troll deputies at Estrella this year. I am in charge of the Midnight - 6 AM shift. I thought it would be really cool if my fellow campers of Rising Sun would be willing to man one of my shifts with me. I was looking at Wednesday night (Thursday morning), but any of the 12-6AM shifts would work if I can get some Rising Sun volunteers.
I know the 12-6AM shift might be hard. I know everyone has something they would rather be doing (Probably sleeping). But where would events like Estrella be without dedicated volunteers to man Troll from Midnight to 6AM?
I would like to get at least a couple of volunteers from Rising Sun. Dedicated, honorable volunteers... plus... Here in the Outlands... I heard some Mongols saying "Rising Sun is the worst camp ever. There is no way they could drum up support for the Midnight to 6AM shift at Troll. Stupid Japanese with their rice and fish and eboshi and lacquered wood." Yeah, that's what I heard.... Are you going to let Mongols talk about us like that?
Come, defend the honor of Rising Sun. Defend the gates of Estrella WAR.
Domo Arigato Ujimoto
Anyone interested should let me know ASAP so I can get them on the schedule.

Come, defend the honor of Rising Sun. I rather thought I was defending the honor of Rising Sun and Nihonjin the Known World over: namely by educating our namban brethren. I'm down for six hours on the class schedule - which, by Estrella War's own rules counts as volunteer hours. I'm also probably going to chain myself to a table again at the A&S display, as I doubt anyone else from Rising Sun has considered representing eastern craftsmanship there. If anyone would care to accompany this insignificant female and engage in a game or two of sugoroku for the amusement of visitors to the display..... EDIT: Almost forgot! I bought sake this afternoon. I bought GOOD sake. There will be Jinyu. There will be some Shirakabe Gura and some Kamotsuru Namakakoi - and I got some of the pink sparkly Hana Awaka (the Princess of the Mists likes it and might stop by if all goes well). There will be Crazy Milk.

Well it looks like the encampment is going to be smaller then last year. There is only going to be 7 of us for most of the week with a couple of more coming out before the weekend to bring us up to 9. Ujimoto-dono, I will let those that are not on the board know that you are looking for volunteers. I would but I am expected on the field the next day and I just don't think that I could pull it off, maybe earlier in the week. I'll talk to you about it on Monday.
To those that are coming in from out of town, if you would like for me to pick up something for you so you don't have to drag it across country let me know.
I have to get back to work now, looking forward to seeing everyone!

Don't think of it as small, think of it as intimate! With that wording (and some of my past reputation) that wording could get me in trouble!

I will comfortably say, as an outlander and al-barranian myself, that I haven't heard this talk.... besides, I know that many members of Rising Sun volunteer quite heavily. AND....we have enough trash talking within camp to pay attention to those crazy mongols and their shaggy ponies! (insert lude commentary about teabagging, followed by ..."get off my lawn!" here) can't wait! -Lady Wu

I will comfortably say, as an outlander and al-barranian myself, that I haven't heard this talk.... ... I think it was Chagatai. I'm not sure he's heard of Rising Sun, but I need a convenient scapegoat ;D Plus he blames me and my house (the Japanese guys) for everything. Just because I tried to poison him this past coronation feast, and midwinter [Evil Laugh] Ujimoto

Noble Cousin! Greetings from Solveig! Soooo..... The rather obvious solution presents itself. The all time Japanese favorite military tactic. The night attack! Preferably sometime between midnight and 6AM. Rush their camp and set up your banners! Won't they be surprised to wake up to a Japanese headquarters unit?

Well when it comes to Mongols I tend to just tell them to quit taking the lowest bid in ship building.
