Slow down, Kenshiro-dono. You're trying to make something you've never made before, and, if I recall correctly, you mentioned that you process info by hands-on learning. If you don't have an experienced armorer in your area to work with, you're stuck with some trial and error.
My first folding fans didn't - because I hadn't figured out how to align sticks and paper in such a way that they worked correctly. I had to unlearn some assumptions I'd made on how I thought fans worked and go back and look more closely at what I was trying to construct.
I don't think anybody else on this list tried making fans before I decided to take a crack at it. You are, however, luckier than I am. You will not have to reinvent the wheel. You're only trying to build a suit of SCA legal Japanese armor. In terms of expertise in Japanese armoring for SCA purposes, you've hit the mother lode on this list.
If somebody says "that's wrong, go back and try again," it's not intended to make you feel like an idiot. Think of it as long distance teaching. You can't spend an afternoon in the workshop with the guys, so this is the next best thing - and remember, they wouldn't criticize if they didn't want you to end up with a set of armor you can be proud of.
Frankly, I wonder how many of them are thinking I'm nuts for suggesting the T-shirt and duct tape method. ;->

Heck, yeah. "My lady, would you assist me with this strap?" is a great way to pick up ch- uh, meet people. Or a nice way to include your consort in your arming ritual.

Well once I get the Do figured out I am going to try to make a jingasa... I want to put a menpo on it but I dont know how it would look.. Or for that matter if it would be possible... The menpo would be modeled around a human face w/ a huge horsehair 'stache...

Kenshiro-dono, i could be horribly wrong but I don't believe jingasa ever included menpo... I believe that would've been kept for the higher ups... and it would have to be a full somen to be SCA legal... check out Mykaru-dono's topic on jingasa here on the board. He has some great looking jingasa going... And if I'm wrong in any of that, a thousand apologies to you, and I will beat myself thouroughly with a bat...

I think I explained wrong.. I am going have a face helm that looks like a jingasa.. This explaination doesnt work either... Right then pics always work !! Take this illustration... Now cut off the guys head.. I want *that* as a helm... A guys head as a helm.. Does that make any more sense ??

So basically what you want is a close helm grotesque that is a realistic face shape with a jingasa on top.

I need a bit of help ...
I have been phoning around and need to know specifics on how much armour you can make from a barrel...
I can either get HPDE barrels for 60.00 bucks a barrel including frieght
or
Get a 4x8 sheet of 1/8 inch black HDPE for 37.50+ about 50.00 bucks for frieght...
Which one is the better deal folks ??

Well, if you have the equipment to *form* the plastic (a BIG oven), I'd go for sheet plastic. It's going to be more uniform and consistent than the barrel in terms of thickness and surface. You also have more control over what you work with, as the barrels have a few features that make part of them unuseable.

I can get a dou out of a barrel, but not sode. The barrel plastic is thicker than the sheet. My current dou does sting quite a bit when I get hit. So I don't think that I'd use HDPE sheet of that thickness. Maybe 1/4? But the sheet will have a nice surface. The barrel plastic will have consistent curvature, though, which is harder to do with sheet. And a 4X* is a lot more plastic than a barrel. Other plastics are harder (I prefer Kydex, some prefer ABS), but more expensive.
